The mission of the PhD in Bible and Theology program is to produce outstanding exegetes of the Bible in its original languages and theologians who are able to contribute to and articulate scholarship in Biblical worldview, and who can serve both the academy and the church as researchers in the field of Biblical and theological studies, promulgating their findings through publication, education.
Masters of Arts—Biblical Languages students are typically interested in pursuing doctoral work, for which this degree is excellent preparation. Some may choose to earn a dual degree with Old Testament or New Testament to enhance their preparedness for further studies.

An entrance proficiency test for Greek and Hebrew language is part of the admission process for doctoral students in the Biblical Studies emphasis, and includes a translation of a minimum of 500 words in two (2) hours with a minimum of eighty (80) percent accuracy.
